World Heart Day (WHD) in Kenya
Create heart-healthy environments where you live & work
Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) remain the world’s biggest killers globally. The World Heart Day is the largest global awareness raising platform for Cardiovascular Disease (CVDs). This day is dedicated to leading the global fight against CVDs, including heart disease and stroke.
Locally every year Kenya Cardiac Society (KCS) partners with the Ministry of Health (MoH) at both National and County level to coordinate and celebrate World Heart Day.
This year’s event will be celebrated between 27th – 29th September 2019 globally as well as in Kenya where we plan to have activities in Nairobi as well as in other selected counties.
The theme for this year’s event will be “MY HEART YOUR HEART” and we have planned several activities including but not limited to roadshows, walks, sporting events, public talks, TV and radio interviews and medical screenings by hospitals.
The awareness campaigns will be enhanced by the distribution of Health Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials. Among the materials are banners, flyers, posters, and T-shirts.
