ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY COURSE

Kenya Cardiac Society (KCS) in its pursuit to execute its core mandate of maintaining the highest standards of cardiovascular care in the country continues to provide education to healthcare professionals. KCS has identified Echocardiography (ECHO) training as one of the key areas of need for healthcare professionals across the country. The Society has developed a masterplan to engage in and/coordinate training in basic and advanced echocardiography among our healthcare workers.  The groups targeted for these programmes include physicians, general practitioners, clinical officers, nurses and sonographers across the country. These efforts will augment the output already realized from similar training being undertaken by other institutions.

Kenya Cardiac Society entered into a collaboration with the American College of Cardiology (ACC) to develop a joint Echocardiography course for our members. ACC provided financial support for the course as well as faculty and course material. Students who successfully participated in at least 80% of the sessions, completed their logbook and passed the post-test received certificates signed off from ACC and KCS.

This is a four months course with online lectures via Zoom meetings and practical hands-on workshops in collaboration with different institutions. Our Partners for the Echo course include MPShah hospital, Mwai Kibaki teaching and referral hospital- Othaya, GE healthcare, Philips, Mindray and Kings medical.
