Introduction

The Kenya Cardiac Society (KCS), in partnership with the American College of Cardiology (ACC), is proud to offer a comprehensive Echocardiography Training Course designed to elevate cardiovascular care standards across Kenya. With the rising burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), this program addresses the critical need for skilled professionals capable of diagnosing and managing these conditions, particularly at the county level.

Launched in September 2022, this course is the first step toward improving the quality and accessibility of echocardiography services nationwide.

Course Overview

  • Duration: 4 months (16 weeks)
  • Format: Hybrid (virtual classes + immersive in-person workshops)
    • Virtual Classes: Twice weekly (Mondays & Wednesdays, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM)
    • Hands-on Workshops:
      • Mid-Course Workshop: 4-day intensive training (midway through the program).
      • End-Course Workshop: 4-day advanced practical session (final week).
  • Supervised by expert cardiologists using real-world cases

Who Should Apply?

  • Eligible Professionals:

    ✔ Clinical Officers & Nurses
    ✔ Sonographers & Echo Technicians

Requirements:

  • Active KCS membership in good standing.
  • Must have access to an echocardiography machine and a competent supervisor.

Certification Requirements

To receive the KCS-ACC certification, participants must:

  • Attend at least 80% of virtual and physical sessions.
  • Complete a logbook of echocardiography cases.
  • Pass the final theory and practical assessments.
