World Heart Day 2025
World Heart Day 2025 – “Don’t Miss a Beat”
The 2025 World Heart Day celebrations, held on 28th September at the University of Nairobi’s Kenya Science Campus, brought together over 300 participants under the global theme “Don’t Miss a Beat.”
Organized by the Kenya Cardiac Society (KCS) in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the event emphasized awareness, prevention, and lifestyle change in the fight against cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) — one of the leading causes of death in Kenya and globally.
The day began with a symbolic Heart Walk, highlighting the importance of physical activity in maintaining a healthy heart. This was followed by the Kenya Cardiac Cup, a friendly football tournament that encouraged teamwork, wellness, and community engagement.
Participants also enjoyed Zumba sessions, aerobics, and vibrant cultural performances, creating an energetic and inclusive atmosphere. Community-centered activities such as sack races and games added fun and connection to the celebration, reinforcing the message that heart health can be achieved through simple, joyful, and consistent habits.
in support of preventive care, free medical screenings were conducted for over 200 participants, checking blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels. These screenings helped promote early detection and awareness of key risk factors for heart disease.
Through initiatives like this, the Kenya Cardiac Society continues to champion heart health and advocate for a culture of prevention over treatment. The Society reminds all Kenyans that protecting the heart begins with consistency, awareness, and action — one heartbeat at a time.
