Hypertension Telemonitoring Study

Project Description The study was done in a site in Kenya- Mwai Kibaki teaching and referral hospital- Othaya. The objective was to investigate the effectiveness of Home Blood Pressure Telemonitoring (HBPT) coupled with Personal Counseling Programs (PCP) in improving hypertension control and drug adherence in Kenya. A previous nationwide survey found that only 22% of Kenyans with hypertension were on treatment, and only 50% had controlled blood pressure.
The study enrolled approximately 100 patients with hypertension and provided them with HBPT and PCP for six months.

  • General improved blood pressure among patients
  • Enrolled More patients had controlled Blood pressure
  • Enhanced medication adherence and lower costs
